They said it

I’ve always enjoyed listening.  There is much to learn and never a lack of people talking.  Part of listening, of course, is somehow recording the important things we hear.  About twenty years ago and somewhat on a whim, I began writing down the amusing things I’d hear in the workplace.  Through thousands of meetings, countless conferences, and innumerable presentations, my record has grown to become a remarkable collection of things people say.

Amazingly, buried inside the humor were lessons we all need to learn.  There were lessons about time and efficiency and leadership.  There were remarks about relationships and work habits and winning.  There were also laments about losing.  Over time, friends and colleagues have regularly stopped by my office to read the compilation of quotes.  They so obviously enjoyed perusing my collection that I thought it was time to share some of them on a broader scale, along with my thoughts on the lessons learned from someone’s humorous remark.

I’m optimistic that you’ll enjoy these quotes entitled “They Said It”.  Hopefully, some of them will arouse a chuckle or two as you relate them to your own personal experiences at work.  Perhaps a few will even generate a good belly laugh.  With a little luck, you might even find yourself thinking.

And finally, be careful what you say…someone might actually be listening.
