“Hey Craig, don’t quit your day job.”

“The sad part is that his performance at the day job isn’t much better.”

All of us like to sing.  Well, maybe not all of us, but I certainly do enjoy singing the oldies from time to time.  In fact, there are those who accuse me of not knowing the lyrics to anything written after 1977.  That, of course, is only partially true.  The Four Tops had at least one hit after 1980.

So, after listening to me sing my way through a few minutes at work, the voice from down the hall delivers to me the expected warning, “Hey Craig, don’t quit your day job.”  The unexpected follow up from the office next door is what took the cake:  “The sad part is that his performance at the day job isn’t much better.”

It is nice to feel appreciated and respected for your contributions in the workplace.  At least I think it must be nice to have those feelings.  Maybe I should just keep singing until I get the respect I’m due.
