“How did he get the job?  Was it his $1,000 suit?”

“No, he was found to be fully buzzword compliant.”

There are times when all you can do is scratch your head and wonder.  Answers come after recognizing that reality frequently defies logic and reasoned judgment.  This is often the case after meeting a new hire.

The senior staff met together for the first time since our new CFO had been brought onboard.  He looked every bit the part.  Meticulously groomed.  Nicely tailored suit.  Conservative cufflinks.  If only he hadn’t opened his mouth.  Unfortunately, he did.  Even more lamentable was that he opened it again and again.

The meeting concluded.  Weary of the hapless babble we had suffered through, a staff member marveled aloud in bewilderment, “How did he get the job?  Was it his $1,000 suit?”

Similar wonderment was expressed in the retort, “No, he was found to be fully buzzword compliant.”

The CFO lasted only a matter of months.  His contributions included inflating the trivial to prominence and engaging in all manner of obscure and esoteric discourse.

In summary, his tenure empowered a paradigm shift whose synergy enabled an integrated and transformed framework leveraged across the enterprise.
